Four women held for throwing acid on cops

In a bid to foil the arrest of the family members,a group of four women threw acid on a police team causing serious burn injuries to the Station House Officer (SHO) in City Kotwali area of Saharanpur district on Monday.

The Saharanpur SSP,Amit Chandra,said the acid attack has caused burn injuries on the face of SHO MP Singh. His left eye is badly hit by the acid attack. He said accused women and youths who helped them have been arrested. Chandra said the police team led by the SHO had gone to Noor Basti locality to arrest six accused named in a case of house-grabbing. As the cops reached the place and were inquiring about the accused outside their house,four women standing on the terrace threw acid which fell on SHO’s head. His cap took the impact of the acid and saved his head,but it trickled down his face causing serious burns. He was rushed to a hospital where he is under medical observation.
