Forces on alert in Sonbhadra

After the Naxal attack in Dantewada,police stations and outposts in Sonbhadra district bordering Chhattisgarh,Jharkhand,Bihar and Madhya Pradesh have been fortified.

After the Naxal attack in Dantewada,police stations and outposts in Sonbhadra district bordering Chhattisgarh,Jharkhand,Bihar and Madhya Pradesh have been fortified. Twelve of the police stations in the district are located close to the borders of the Naxal-hit states. DIG (Mirzapur Range) R P Singh said,“Since Naxals are known to target police,eight PAC companies and three CRPF companies trained to combat the Naxals have been deployed in the border areas.” “These personnel are combing the affected areas with the local police and are keeping a close watch on activities in the forest region adjacent to other states,” the DIG added. Sonbhadra SP Preetinder Singh said,“Since no Naxal activity has been notices on the Madhya Pradesh border for several years,the personnel have been deployed in the areas bordering the other three states. The Sonbhadra and Chandauli districts in UP are affected mostly by the group of Naxals active in Jharkhand and Bihar while those in Chhattisgarh have yet not trespassed or entered UP,” Singh said.
