With an aim to make the learning of maths and science more interactive for Class VI students of state government schools,the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) plans to introduce the concept of Help Books from the next academic session.
Approved by the State Institute of Science Education,Allahabad,the books titled Aao Karke Seekhe will be written in Hindi.
The book will be used for the first time to aid students in academics. We plan to use it in schools across the state by the next academic session, said Bhagwati Singh,Senior Professional,SSA.
The Help Book will focus on activity-based learning. For example,a student will learn the concept of a triangle by make triangular figures with the help of wires and cello tapes. Similarly,the concept of money will be explained using dummy currency,which will be provided along with the book.
We have tried to include several concepts related to each lesson in the help book. We will provide a list of study material along with the book, said a senior SSA official.
The work on a Help Book for Class VII is on while a similar book for Class VIII is in the pipeline.
Teachers will be trained at the District Institute of Education and Training,following which they will train teachers at the local level.
