District manager of state Food and Essential Commodities Corporation,Rakesh (55),posted in Sitapur,has been reported missing since Friday.
An FIR was lodged by her colleague Wasi-ur-Rahman on Saturday.
Rakesh,a resident of Indira Nagar,Lucknow,commuted daily to Sitapur in a cab.
According to police,on Friday,around 3.30 pm she left her Laxminagar office in Sitapur to meet ADM Food and Civil Supplies Vinod Kumar Maurya.
After the meeting,she reportedly left for Lucknow but never reached home. When she failed to turn up in office the next day,her colleagues tried calling her but her cellphone was switched off. Cab driver Abhay Sonis phone was also untraceable.
On being contacted by the Sitapur police,her neighbours and landlord said they had not seen Rakesh since Friday.
Sitapur Superintendent of Police Amitabh Yash said: Rakesh last spoke to her daughter and a relative.
Rakesh had been appointed in place of her PCS officer husband who died six years ago. Rakeshs daughter is studying in Agra and her son is studying in London.
She has been living alone in a rented accommodation in Lucknow.
