Boys section top seed Fatehdeep Singh of Punjab defeated second seed Garvit Batra of Delhi by 6-2,6-4 in the final to bag the top honours in the boys singles event of the 10th Eldeco RS Sagar Memorial-AITA Super Series Under-16 Tennis Tournament which came to a close in the state capital on Friday. In the girls singles finals,fourth seed Tahira Bhatti of Delhi defeated third seed Shreya Pasricha of UP by 6-4,6-4 to win the title.
On Thursday,pairing with Shreya,Tahira had defeated the pair of Riya Bhatia and Simran Kaur Sethi (both from Delhi) by 7-6(7),6-2 in the girls doubles final. The Results: Boys final: Fatehdeep Singh (Pb; seed-1) beat Garvit Batra (Dli; seed-2) 6-2,6-4; Girls final: Tahira Bhatti (Dli; seed-4) beat Shreya Pasricha (UP; seed-3) 6-4,6-4.
Ankit shines
Ankit Pawar of Shahjahanpur bagged a bronze in the World Kung Fu Championship organised at Turkey recently. According to JP Tripathi,secretary general Kung-Fu Federation of India,the Indian Kung Fu team altogether bagged two silvers and three bronze in the championship.
Sunny excels
An unbeaten 92 run knock by Sunny Pathak was the highlight of the match as his team LCA Club defeated Multi Activity Centre by nine wickets in their league match of the Shivesh Ranjan Majumdar Memorial Cricket Tournament in progress at Lucknow. Sunnys 92 came off 80 balls which featured eight boundaries and two lofty sixes. A 110-run third wicket partnership between Saurabh Khetrapal (68 runs) and Abhishek Yadav (55 not out) helped Supreme Club in defeating Arya Cricket Academy by 17 runs in their league match of the 1st Himanshu Shukla Memorial Cricket Tournament at Pt. RB Tiwari Stadium,Lucknow on Friday.
