Expelled for 6 yrs,MLA returns to SP in 2 months

Pramod Gupta is relative of Mulayam Singh’s wife

The Samajwadi Party (SP) has revoked the expulsion of MLA Pramod Kumar Gupta from the party on Friday. Gupta, who represents Vidhuna assembly seat in Auraiyya district,is a relative of SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav’s wife,Sadhna Gupta.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who is also state president of the SP,had expelled Gupta from the party for six years for indulging in “anti-party activities” and “indiscipline” on June 21. Gupta was also in the news last February when his son Abhinav allegedly slapped a teacher at Amity University.

The Chief Minister had intervened in the matter and assured justice to the teacher.

“The explanation I submitted to the party leadership has been accepted. Things I had never said against the state government were attributed to me. I have full faith in the SP leadership and I am thankful to Akhilesh Yadav for revoking my expulsion,” Pramod Kumar Gupta stated.

Gupta had reportedly blamed the state government for poor law and order in his district and claimed to have resigned over the issue. He had reportedly also expressed unhappiness over the neglect of his opinion in transfer of officials.

However, after his expulsion was revoked,he said,“I was never dissatisfied with the SP leadership. I am a loyal soldier of the party,I had only mentioned one incident which occurred in my constituency.”
