Rizwan Ahmed alias Motu Maali,who was one of the 10 undertrials who had escaped from the prison van in Allahabad on April 8,has surrendered before a Kaushambi court in connection with another case and has been sent to jail. Ahmed was the one who had allegedly instigated the other accused in escaping from the prison van near Balson Chauraha intersection,while they were all being taken to the district court from Naini Central Jail.
An Allahabad police spokesperson said that Ahmed surrendered in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Kaushambi on Tuesday in connection with a case of loot and Arms Act,registered against him under Sarai Akil area in 2011.
Ahmad,who has more than a dozen criminal cases registered against him,was sent to jail.
The police claimed that Motu Mali surrendered as several raids were conducted at his hideouts in the past few days. However,some of the other dreaded criminals like Rajesh Yadav and Rakesh Chowdhary are still at large.
Two of the fugitive undertrials – Mohammad Vaish and Chand Babu – were arrested within one day of the incident.
Four policemen,including one sub-inspector and three constables,who were in-charge of the prison van carrying the undertrials,have been arrested for being negligent on duty.
