Engineers booked for ransacking office

An FIR was lodged on Friday against a senior office bearer of Civil Diploma Engineers’ Association (CDEA) of the Public Works Department,a junior engineer and 20 others for ransacking the office of UP Engineers’ Association (UPEA).

In a complaint to the police,UPEA general secretary Surjit Singh Niranjan alleged that CDEA vice-president Diwakar Rai and junior engineer Satyendra Tripathi,along with a group ransacked his office in Hazratganj. “Recently,we had demanded that only people holding engineering degrees be referred to as engineers,” said UPEA president A A Farooqui. This had infuriated the diploma engineers,and hence the attack.
