And we thought remixing was just about increasing the RPM and infusing the track with some queer sounds! “The word remix is something of a misnomer,if you look at the way I do it,” says DJ Sumit Sethi,in Lucknow to perform live at Genesis Club on Friday night as part of a tour called ‘Chase da Passion’. He is going to belt out numbers from his new album Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast. “I totally reconstruct the number getting even new singers to render it. The genesis of an album lies in a particular sound that we identify as the theme and then every track is made to fall in that groove,” smiles the disc jockey,who presents himself as a “DJ artiste”.

“Not me,the back stage DJ! I am always onstage via the huge screen and every now and then I walk up to the centre jiving to the music and calling up on stage somebody from the audience to shake a leg with me. I love the feel of playing to the crowd and driving them to a frenzy,” says the musicmixer,who has even composed for Hindi film Jugaad a number sung by Adil from Pakistan and has some more film projects on hand. “Hindi film music is the bridge that connects us to the crowd anywhere we go in the world.” says Pratichee,whose ticket to fame was getting selected to be in the first all-girl band of India,Viva. She will be in tandem with Sumit at the concert. “I have sung for some forthcoming films,including Sale 50% and UTV’s untitled John Abraham-starrer,but it is my new album Perils of a Pop Princess that I am more upbeat about,” says the singer.
