The investigation into the Rampur ammunition pilferage racket involving CRPF and the police received a setback on Friday. Three of the accused, who had given a written consent for lie-detector tests, refused to undergo it before the court on Friday.
The accused were CRPF constables Vinod Paswan and Vinesh Singh, and retired police sub-inspector Yashoda Nand Singh.
The Senior Prosecution Officer (SPO),R K Saxena, said the police had sought permission from the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) for the lie-detector test after submitting the written consent of the accused. But the men denied that they had consented to the test. The court asked the police to produce the case diary and other details. The next hearing is on May 20.
On Wednesday, the CRPF assistant commandant of Rampur,JK Mishra, head constable Chhoteylal Verma and Inspector Subey Singh had refused to undergo the test. During interrogation,CRPF men Vinod and Vinesh had alleged that JK Mishra,Subey Singh and Chhoteylal used to help them steal the shells from the ammunition store. Their senior colleagues also received a share of the money, they said.
Mishra and Chhoteylal were suspended soon after the racket was unearthed. The two CRPF constables and five others were arrested on April 30.
