Police have started a probe after reports appeared in media that jailed Samajwadi Party legislator Vijay Mishra visited a temple allegedly without court permission during his stay at a hospital for treatment.

Lucknow: Police have started a probe after reports appeared in media that jailed Samajwadi Party legislator Vijay Mishra visited a temple allegedly without court permission during his stay at a hospital for treatment. Mishra,an accused in the bomb attack on then minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi on July 12,2010,is in jail since his arrest last year. He is undergoing treatment at Balrampur hospital here on court orders. Mishra reached a Hanuman temple on Tuesday allegedly without the permission of the court. “The matter is not in my knowledge. I will collect information about it and inquire into the incident”,Inspector General (Law & Order) B P Singh said. Mishra was spotted at a lunch hosted for UPA Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee on July 3. He had been given permission by the court to attend the Assembly session,which ended on July 3,but also attended the lunch.

Man kills wife for not bearing boy

Bareilly: Upset with his wife for not bearing a male child,a man killed her in Bareilly,said police. The incident took place yesterday at Paratpur Nai Basti locality in Izzatnagar area. The woman,identified as Salma,was beaten and strangulated by her husband Arif,police added. Arif has five daughters,they said,adding that a case has been registered against the man.

Two killed as trucks collide

Azamgarh: Two persons were killed on Wednesday when two trucks collided in Sehda village in Kandhrapur area here. Banwari (22),driver of one of the trucks and another person,who could not be identified,were killed on the spot,said police.

2 held with cash,pistols on Rajdhani

Chandauli: Two youths were arrested from Rajdhani Express with an unaccounted cash of Rs 33 lakh at Mughalsarai Railway station here and two pistols recovered from them. Pawan Kumar (26) and Chandan Kumar (29) are both from Gaya.
