CBI files interim report on missing Ayodhya files

The Central Bureau of Investigation filed the interim progress report on the 23 missing files related to the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri mosque land dispute case on Monday before the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High court.

Additional Solicitor General Ashok Nigam filed the report before the Special Bench comprising Justices S R Alam,Sudhir Agarwal and D V Sharma.

Sources in the CBI revealed that they had detected 16 files related to the Ayodhya title suit and their scrutiny found seven among the 23 of the missing files. One of these seven is not original,but a bunch of photostat copies. Seven others files had been weeded out at the concerned section in the Home Department. Three of the removed files were related to the Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri mosque case.

The CBI told the court that they have put forward some queries to the state Home Department officials. Nigam said the complete report will be submitted before the court on September 21. On July 15,the court had directed the CBI to investigate the matter of the missing files and gave two months to complete it.
