The Special Task Force (STF) branch of the CBI,which is probing into 11 criminal cases against lawyers,on Friday arrested two advocates in Lucknow. A CBI official said the advocates,Jeetu Yadav and Avinish Dixit,were arrested after the investigation found their involvement in a case registered under IPC sections 147,353,427,447,506 and section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act,1984.
On September 27 and 28,2010,a group of lawyers had manhandled officials and employees of the district courts and ransacked the court rooms. It is alleged that Yadav,Dixit and other advocates had obstructed and raised slogans when the SP (City) tried to get the court opened,the CBI official confirmed.
Initially,the Lucknow police had registered the case. Later,the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court had ordered a probe into 11 such cases pending against lawyers on December 10,2010 while taking cognisance of the petition filed by a lawyer Prashant Singh Gaur.
