Two policemen have been caught on camera accepting largesse from a Samajwadi Party MLA Vijay Mishra,upon his release from jail where he was lodged in connection with a bomb attack on a cabinet minister in the previous BSP government.
Images of two policemen in uniform,accepting the largesse and greeting the MLA were flashed by some news channels today.
Mishra,who represents Gyanpur constituency in Sant Ravidas Nagar district,was released from the high-security Naini Central Prison on Tuesday. Outside the jail,he was greeted by supporters who raised slogans hailing his release. The MLA responded by distributing sweets and money to the supporters and was caught on camera while giving them to the cops.
When contacted,Senior Superintendent of Police,Allahabad,Mohit Agrawal said,I received the news only today and have sought the video footages for investigation. The matter will be investigated thoroughly and appropriate action will be taken if the policemen are found guilty of any wrongdoing.
Mishra was arrested last year in connection with a bomb attack on then BSP minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi in July 2010,in which two persons were killed.
