BSP MP backs Gujarat CM,says

The BSP MP from Hamirpur,Vijay Bahadur Singh,Saturday defended Narendra Modi for his “puppy remarks” saying the Gujarat chief minister had said nothing wrong and his comments were being misinterpreted.

The BSP MP from Hamirpur,Vijay Bahadur Singh,Saturday defended Narendra Modi for his “puppy remarks” saying the Gujarat chief minister had said nothing wrong and his comments were being misinterpreted.

Singh, who was in his constituency on Saturday, said,“He (Modi) is just showing his sensitivity and did not compare the puppy with any community. These are other people who are claiming Modi compared puppy to a community,to create a controversy,” he said.

Singh, however, added he had not read the complete interview of Modi. Asked about his party’s criticism of Modi,Singh said,“These are my personal views as a citizen and they should not be read in any other context. But this is also truth. Is it wrong to speak truth?”

“If someone else is driving a car and we’re sitting behind, even then if a puppy comes under the wheel, will it be painful or not? Of course it is… If I’m a chief minister or not,I’m a human being… If something bad happens anywhere,it is natural to be sad,” Modi had told a news agency in an interview.

The BSP recently denied ticket to Singh for the 2014 polls from Hamirpur constituency, which he currently represents in the Lok Sabha.

While BSP leaders declined to react to Singh’s remarks, they said their party chief Mayawati would talk about the party’s view on the MP’s comment at press conference scheduled on Sunday.
