BSP ministers under EC scanner

Singh said: “Station Officers of Mataundh and Chilla police stations Kailash Kushwaha and Harbans Lal Chaudhary are close relatives of Minister for Mining Babu Singh Kushwaha. Similarly,the SO at Tindwari police station Umakant Deepak is related to Minister for Rural Development Daddu Prasad.”

“These SOs are posted at the same police stations since Mayawati was sworn in as the chief minister,” he added. Plus,Prasad is also said to have played a role in getting tehsildar of Baberu area Nathhu Lal Pandey as the Assistant Returning Officer for the polling in Banda. Pandey,a resident of Baberu area,is said to have been threatening villagers to vote for the BSP.

Both leaders have requested the election authorities to get the police officers transferred and to prohibit Prasad from visiting Banda and the adjacent Hamirpur constituencies during elections to ensure fair polling.

The SP of Banda,Harish Chand Pandey,said: “I have not come across any complaint against the SOs so far. They are not influencing the elections here.” Singh also alleged that Prasad has also been influencing the election in Chitrakoot district with the help of Kotwali Station House Officer Radhey Shyam Pushkar and the SO of Manikpur VP Dubey.
