A BSF personnel allegedly molested a 7-year-old girl on board the Jammu Tawi-bound Sealdah Express train late on Saturday night. The girl’s mother approached the Government Railway Police (GRP) after her daughter told her about the incident. An FIR has been registered at Charbagh GRP station against the accused, identified as D K Pandey, under the IPC Section 354 (assault or use of criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty) on the mother’s complaint. According to GRP, the girl’s mother alleged that the BSF personnel, who was travelling on her adjoining berth in an AC coach, molested her daughter in the night at around 1 am. The girl told her mother about the incident after the accused had alighted from the train somewhere near Faizabad station, the GRP informed. The woman is a resident of Patiala and was going to her native place. Lucknow GRP Circle Officer Ram Dular Yadav said the incident took place somewhere near Asansol where the jawan, who was also drunk, misbehaved with the woman. He said the woman and the BSF personnel were both travelling from West Bengal. Yadav said the woman informed the GRP after train left Faizabad and Barabanki and Charbagh GRP inspectors went to lodge her complaint. He said the FIR has been registered but it will be transferred to Asansol where the incident took place. Charbagh Inspector SP Sonkar said the woman whose daughter was molested is also a CRPF official.
