Briefly State: Banda rape victim records statement

LUCKNOW: The statement of Banda rape victim was recorded before a CBI court in Lucknow on Friday. Former Banda BSP MLA Purushottam Naresh Dwivedi is one of the accused in the case which took place in 2010. He is currently lodged in Banda jail. This is the first time that the victim’s statement was recorded before the court. On December 14,2010,the victim was arrested for allegedly stealing cash and a mobile phone from Dwivedi’s house. The police produced her in local court which sent her to jail. A few days later,the girl’s family,after meeting her in jail,alleged that she was raped by Dwivedi and his associates,and that the police framed her in a case of theft to protect them.

DMs pulled up over revenue collection

LUCKNOW: Chief Secretary Jawed Usmani has sought explanation from 15 district magistrates who failed to provide information regarding revenue collections. Departments sent recovery certificates to the district administration against consumers who failed to make payments for their electricity,irrigation and other dues despite notices,an officer said.

Tiger found dead

Pilibhit: A tiger was found dead on Friday under mysterious circumstances in Haripur forest range in the district,a forest official said here. The carcass of the tiger,with injury marks near its tail,was recovered from near a drain this morning,divisional forest officer V K Singh said.
