One of the youngest candidates of 2012 Assembly elections,Ankit Parihar,was on Sunday elected as the new president of the central zone of the Indian Youth Congress. He won the elections by bagging 1,118 of total votes in the elections,beating 19 other candidates who were in the fray. Anoop Kumar Gupta with 746 votes was elected as the vice president. Ankit,who hails from Unnao district,was party candidate from Bhagwantnagar Assembly seat and had stood fourth. He claims he was the youngest candidate in the Assembly elections at 26 years and 4 months of age. The 27-year-old is a BTech (Computer Science) from Gorakhpur.

DSP murder: CBI questions SP leader

The CBI,which is investigating the triple murder case of Pratapgarh,on Sunday questioned three persons,including district vice-president of the Samajwadi Party Chabbi Nath Yadav at their camp office in Kunda. Chabbi Nath is younger brother of Kunda Nagar Panchayat Chairman Gulshan Yadav,who is one of the five persons named in the murder case of DSP Ziaul Haque by his wife Parveen Azad. The two others who were questioned,Manjeet Yadav and Baawan Saroj,are residents of Balipur,where the triple murder took place on March 2. The CBI released Chabbi Nath after questioning him but Manjeet and Baawan are still in their custody.

‘Academia,industry need to grow together’

Union HRD Minister Pallam Raju on Sunday called for improved interaction between the academia and industry. Delivering the convocation address at IIM,Lucknow,the minister said,“Academia,research,manufacturing…all these are growing but they are growing in independent silos. It is important to enable these silos to talk to each other seamlessly.”
