Five of a family hacked to death
LUCKNOW: Five members of a family,including minors,were hacked to death in Hamirpur district on Friday. SP Surya Nath Singh said a woman,Brij Lata (40),and her three sons and one daughter — aged between 3 and 15 years — were killed with a sharp-edged weapon inside their house in Mora Kadar village under Lalpura police station. Lata’s husband,Jagdish Singh,is missing. He had gone to attend a hearing of a land dispute case that he is fighting against Satya Prakash Mali of the same village. The SP said Lata had filed a case recently against Mali accusing him of fraudulently transferring ownership of her husband’s land. The police are hunting for Jagdish,as the exact motive behind the killings would be established only after he is traced,the SP said.

Man kills wife,two others
LUCKNOW: A man shot his wife and two women relatives dead at Nagla Allahabad village in Bulandshahr on Friday. SSP Neelesh Kumar said Gopal used two different firearms to mislead the police. According to the police,Gopal had married four years ago but the relations soured. He was later arrested.

Youth kills lover,wife before shooting self
LUCKNOW: A youth killed the owner of a beauty parlour and his wife before shooting himself in Jalaun on Friday. SP of the district P K Gautam said condition of Paras Soni (26) is critical. The police said the primary investigation has revealed that the youth had an extra-marital relationship with the owner of the parlour. A dispute over this with his wife triggered the incident.

Leopard attacks girl at Katerniaghat
LUCKNOW: A leopard attacked a 12-year-old girl at Katerniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary on Friday. The victim,a resident of Azamgarhpurwa village,had gone to collect firewood in the forest. “She suffered injuries on her face,neck and shoulders,and is undergoing treatment in a hospital,” said a senior wildlife official. On Thursday,a decomposed body of a female leopard was found at Murthia range of the sanctuary. The postmortem report has ruled out poaching as all its organs were found intact.

Two housing dept staff suspended
LUCKNOW: Two employees of the UP Housing and Urban Development Department (UPHDB) have been suspended on charges of participating in the elections of a non-recognised employee union — Awas Vikas Karmachari Mahasangh. Pradeep Pandey,an accountant,contested for the post of president while Ram Naresh Sonkar,an assistant accountant,had joined the election process as the returning officer.

Auto company employee robbed
LUCKNOW: An employee of an automobile company was robbed of Rs 1 lakh in Hazratganj area on Friday afternoon. Zameer had gone to the IndusInd Bank,Sikanderbagh branch,with the cash in a car driven by company driver Sudhir. As soon as he stepped out of the car,a miscreant waiting for him on the spot snatched the envelope and escaped along with his motorcycle-borne accomplice.
