LUCKNOW: The police on Wednesday lodged an FIR against a provincial police services (PPS) officer,two sub-inspectors and four constables for allegedly parading a 30-year-old accused naked near the Gorakhpur collectorate in March. The man,whom the police had accused of indulging in violence during the Holi celebrations in March,alleged he was paraded naked by the policemen on the order of Gorakhpur Additional SP (City) Paresh Pandey. The accused later filed a complaint with the State Human Rights Commission which ordered an inquiry into the incident. On the commissions direction,the FIRs were lodged,Gorakhpur SSP Pradeep Kumar Yadav said.
UPSIDC asked to start e-allotment of plots
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation would soon start e-allotment of industrial plots and e-tendering for infrastructure-related works across the state. Officers have been warned of action if they fail to meet the deadline. It is a significant step as several investors complained about the lack of transparency in the allotment of industrial plots. The government would later take the services up in Industrial Development Authorities,too, a government officer said. During the meeting,chaired by Principal Secretary Infrastructure and Industrial Development Department S P Singh,the consultants also suggested preliminary plans to develop Trans-Ganga Hightech township in Unnao.
Fake Indian currency worth Rs 4 lakh seized
LUCKNOW: The CBI on Thursday arrested two members of a gang from Lucknow railway station and recovered fake Indian currency of the value of Rs 3.99 lakh. CBI spokesperson R K Gaur said Sabir Hussain of Bijnor and Shakil of Moradabad have been arrested with the FICN,which they were bringing from Farakka town of West Bengal. The CBI later produced both the accused before a local court. Sources said the accused used to smuggle FICN from West Bengal districts bordering Bangladesh and put them in UP market.
