Atul Gupta appointed SFC chief

Former Chief Secretary Atul Gupta has been appointed the new chairman of the State Finance Commission on Monday.

Former Chief Secretary Atul Gupta has been appointed the new chairman of the State Finance Commission on Monday. Gupta,who retired as UP Chief Secretary on March 31,is known for his knowledge on industrial and economic matters. He will hold the post for two years.

Two killed in road mishap

Two persons were killed and six others seriously injured when a bus collided with a brick-laden tractor trolley in Itaunja area near here on Monday. The victims were coming to the city to participate in the BSP rally when the mishap took place yesterday. Jahid Ali and Iktikhar,both residents of Chiklokar village in Meerut district,were killed in the mishap. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital in serious condition.
