A day after charges of murder and destruction of evidence were framed against Rajesh and Nupur Talwar,a Ghaziabad sessions court ordered the beginning of the trial in the case from June 4. Additionally,Rajesh Talwar will also face charges of misleading investigations by filing a false FIR against Hemraj,the domestic help whose body was found dead on the terrace of the house,two days after Arushi Talwars body was found on her bed.
On Friday,Additional Sessions Judge Shyam Lal formally drafted the charges against the dentist couple. After reading out the charges against them and he asked if they wished to plead guilty or not guilty. Each charge Section 302/24 (murder with common intent),201/34 (destruction of evidence with common intent),and 201(giving false information with regard to an offence committed) which applies only to Rajesh Talwar was read out individually. On each occasion,the Talwar reply was,We will face trial.
The court also rejected an application by the Talwars counsel Manoj Sisodia to delay the beginning of the trial by 15 days as they wanted time to approach the Allahabad High Court.
ASJ Shyam Lal rejected the request and scheduled the trial to begin within nine days.
Rajesh Talwars bail plea hearing listed for July
ALLAHABAD: The bail plea of Rajesh Talwar could not be taken up in the Allahabad High Court on Friday. His bail plea is now likely to come up before the high court in July. The hearing of the bail plea of his wife Nupur Talwar continued for the fifth consecutive day and will continue on Monday. The Talwar couple is facing charges of murder and destruction of evidence in connection with the murder of their daughter and domestic help Hemraj on May 16,2008. The hearing of the murder case is going on in a Ghaziabad court. It could not be taken up due to paucity of time. With the vacations due to begin from June 1,the next hearing of the petition is likely only in July, said CBI counsel. The hearing of Nupurs bail plea continued before a single-judge bench of Justice Arvind Kumar Tripathi. The hearing on Nupurs bail plea began on Monday.
