Following the recommendations by Lokayukta N K Mehrotra March last year, the government has decided on an Vigilance Establishment inquiry against former BSP minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui and his wife Husna, who a BSP MLC,for alleged disproportionate assets and evasion of stamp duty.
However, while Mehrotra had recommended an inquiry by the CBI or Enforcement Directorate (ED),the government has decided to get it done by Vigilance Establishment, which the state monitors on its own.
A government spokesperson said the government had decided to get an open inquiry conducted by the Vigilance Establishment in the light of the recommendations of the Lokayukta on a complaint filed by one Jagdish Narayan Shukla.
Meanwhile, last week also,an FIR had been lodged against Siddiqui in Banda by the Vigilance Establishment in another case of disproportionate assets, arising as a result of another recommendation made by the Lokayukta in August,2012.
