Akhilesh downgrades Ambika

CM’s uncle and PWD Minister Shivpal Yadav gets his portfolios

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today allocated portfolios to four of his ministers,two of whom were elevated while two newly inducted on July 18.

The announcement came along with a significant reshuffle,in which the portfolios of Revenue,Relief and Rehabilitation as well as Uttar Pradesh Public Service Management were taken from Ambika Chaudhary and given to Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav.

In what is regarded as a downgrade of Ambika Chaudhary,he has been given the Backward Welfare Department and Handicapped Welfare Department. Both these portfolios had been with the Chief Minister.

Of the two newly inducted ministers,Narad Rai has been given Sports and Youth Welfare and Kailash Yadav has been given Khadi and Village Industries. These ministries were with the Chief Minister,too.

The other two ministers,Ram Murti Verma and Gayatri Prasad Prajapati,have been elevated in the same ministries where they were serving as ministers of state.

While Ram Murti Verma has been made cabinet minister in Dairy Development, Gayatri Prasad Prajapati has been made Minister of State (independent charge) of Mining and Geological Resources.

With this reshuffle and allotment of new ministries,Akhilesh will now hold charge of 56 departments and Shivpal Yadav will have 11 departments under him including Public Works Department,Cooperative and Irrigation.
