Chief Minister’s Office rang up different district headquarters randomly to check the presence of DMs and SSPs in their offices.
After facing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav swung into action to streamline the state machinery and issued show cause notices to eight district magistrates (DMs) and ten senior superintendents of police (SSPs) for remaining absent from work between 10 am to 12 noon on Wednesday. The state government has the two hours for the officials to hear out people’s grievances.
An official spokesperson informed that the Chief Minister’s Office rang up different district headquarters randomly to check the presence of DMs and SSPs in their offices. It was found that the DMs of Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Jaunpur, Gonda, Ballia, Mirzapur, Etawah (CM’s home district) and Firozabad were not present in office. Sambhal DM office informed that the official was attending a meeting.
Similarly, SSPs of Maharajganj, Amethi, Shahjahanpur, Mahoba, Shamli, Lalitpur, Shrawasti, Unnao, Mau and Amroha were also found to be absent. A show cause notice has been issued to each of these officials.
