After Amitabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra,Aamir Khan has become the face of UNICEF India. At the Gandhi Smriti Park,which buzzed with unusual activity on Wednesday,Khan took up this new job officially,and declared,We will try to reach as many people as possible through outdoor media and public platforms. The 46-year-old Bollywood actor was accompanied by lyricist and ad-man Prasoon Joshi,Tara Gandhi,grand-daughter of Mahatma Gandhi,
Karin Hulshof,Country Representative,UNICEF,and DK Sikri,Secretary,Ministry of Women and Child Development.
Khan explained UNICEFs chief agenda,malnutrition,saying,Kuposhan or malnutrition is one of the most dangerous things for a child. It cannot be recognised easily and,hence,is generally ignored. He added that healthy children are needed if the country is to progress. Khan has reportedly foregone some his other endorsements to take up this role. The organisation has earlier roped in international celebrities to support its campaigns around the world. Some famous faces include Angelina Jolie,Mia Farrow,Shakira Mebarak,and football star David Beckham.
