The Government Railway Police (GRP) have registered a case against three constables,who were on escort duty on Tapti-Ganga Express,for allegedly looting money from passengers. The three accused are absconding and have been suspended.
Allahabad Superintendent of Police (GRP) Ram Shanker said: A case under Section 392 (robbery) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Manikpur GRP police station in Chitrakoot on the complaint of a passenger that they took away money from him on the pretext of checking his ticket.
According to the police,the three constables Vinod Singh,Ajeet Mishra and Vijay Kumar Giri boarded the general coach of Tapti-Ganga Express,which plies between Surat (Gujarat) and Chhapra (Bihar) near Manikpur railway station in Chitrakoot ,Wednesday morning.
The constables allegedly collected money from passengers while threatening them that they would be de-boarded if their tickets and identity proofs were not found in order. The incident was reported to the police at Mirzapur railway station in the morning itself, said Circle Officer,GRP,Allahabad,O P Singh.
