: FN SouzA’s Amazon at

Dhoomimal Gallery
Why
: I have seen many of his works and but this one is different from the others. This Souza is rough in a sense and also subtle. Unfortunately I don’t think it is for sale.

: Nataraj Sharma’s Air Show at the Sculpture Park

Why: It is best representative of where Indian art is heading. The scale of the work is huge and magnanimous. It is a landmark shift. It is the kind of work that is happening in India now.

The Pick
: LN Tallur’s Digesting System at Arario Gallery

Why: I love this work. At first glance it is iconic. Then it turns into a caricature and at a certain level it seems like a toy. There are several levels of transformation. It is an attractive work.

: Anish Kapoor’s untitled at Lisson Gallery

Why: It is an interesting work, even technically. It is a single shape within which each piece is fragmented at the same time and also reflective. It is elaborate and reflects the human self in multiple layers.

Maithili Parekh,Sotheby’s deputy director
The Pick
: Anish Kapoor’s untitled at Lisson Gallery

Why: It is the work of a London-based artist being showcased in the country of his birth,India. The work is static and just stands there but at the same time it is reflective and interactive. Anish does a lot of larger work, much of which is site-specific,and this might be smaller in size in comparison but one has to keep in mind that it is being shown at an art fair and one had to transport it. I’m told that the work has already been sold to an Indian collector.
