Nearly two weeks after a man was killed by a tiger in Sunderbans, another man fell prey to the animal here on Thursday. According to forest officials, the deceased Ahmed Sheikh (26),a fisherman, had gone to the Nabakir jungle in Sundarbans two days ago with two other men.

Around 4 am in the morning today, the trio was fishing in the core area of Sundarbans when suddenly a tiger pounced on Ahmed and dragged him into the jungles. His friends followed the blood trail before finding the body of Ahmed deep inside the forests.

“We are investigating as to how the tigers have started straying out of the reserve forest areas. We have sent our officials to the spot. Ahmed possessed all valid documents for entering the core area of the Sundarbans. We will see what we can do for his family,” said Subrat Mukherjee, field director,Sundarban Tiger reserve.

It was on September 19 that another fisherman was killed by a tiger in Takerbhani area in the Sundarbans.
