A protest rally organised by the ruling Trinamool Congress in Kolkata on Tuesday against the state election commissions decision to go to court against the governments notification of panchayat polls in the state became a show stop for the party leaders not only to hit out at the poll panel and the opposition parties but also an opportunity to sing praises for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Party general secretary Mukul Roy,who took the centre stage, accused the poll panel of being in collusion with the CPM,BJP and the Congress in what he claimed as a tactic to delay the poll.
The Congress,CPM and BJP know that they will loose the election, and so they do not want to hold the elections,he added.
Praising Mamata Banerjees courage,Roy said: At various places, the CPM wrote posters declaring that they would rather shed blood but they would not allow a division of Bengal. Whereras Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee went to Darjeeling and standing along with GJM leaders like Roshan Giri and Bimal Gurung on the same dais she declared that she would not allow any division of Bengal. Can the opposition parties muster that much of courage to do this?
He claimed that Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, then Home Minister, took a chopper ride to Naxal-affected Jungelamahal, but Mamata went there by road and addressed rallies. This speaks volumes of our CMs courage and determination, Roy added.
