Tiger mauls honey collector

A 25-year-old honey-collector was mauled by a Royal Bengal tiger late on Monday evening in the Sunderbans.

A 25-year-old honey-collector was mauled by a Royal Bengal tiger late on Monday evening in the Sunderbans.

Forest officials conducted a search on Tuesday morning but failed to recover his body.

Shakti Bhakta,a resident of Patharpratima,had gone to the Kultali jungle with seven other honey collectors on Friday. They entered the deep forests of Chulkathi on Sunday.

His friends informed the Kultali beat office about the incident on Monday night.

On Monday evening Bhakta and his team spotted a hive at a Sundari tree. As Bhakti was trying to extract honey,suddenly a tiger attacked him and dragged him away. Others rushed to the spot but his body was not found by them.
