Sudipta Sen,the main accused in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam,and his associate Debjani Mukherjee on Wednesday got bail in the first case against them on the basis of which they were arrested in April. But the duo will still be in jail as several other cases of defrauding investors in the ponzi scheme are pending against them in the courts.

Sudipta and Debjani were granted bail by Bidhannagar court here in the case (no 32) dealing with Saradhas failure in paying salaries of employees working in a TV channel owned by Sen. The duo were arrested from Kashmir on April 23. Several agencies are currently probing the scam spread in several states. Thousands of investors have been duped of thousands of crores of rupees and hundreds of agents of the company have been rendered jobless with several of them having committed suicide.
