At one look,Kaji is nearly like your dream-room come true. Soft lighting,guitars,blow-ups of Marilyn Monroe and Brando’s Don Corleone, cube stools strewn across the room —it’s very difficult to immediately realize that you are standing amid the pleasant chaos of an interior décor shop. And owner Srivant More wants it to feel exactly like that. Kaji, which opened its doors barely a month back,is all about retro-chic with lot of colours on one hand and stylized monochromes on the other. “Although my brand is all about quirky stuff, there’s a classic vintage feel to most of the stuff,” says 26-year-old more, who gave up a job in a finance company in London to open Kaji.

“I was always interested in interior décor. Just a few months back,I did up my house when I was in India. That is when people asked me to take up interior designing professionally and I gave it a serious thought,” says More, who is a chartered accountant by education.

While the blow-ups of Hollywood icons are the ones at arrest your attention almost immediately, the bags with digital prints come in a close second. The round leather purses, with digital prints of Hollywood icons like Audrey Hepburn and Elvis Presley can easily replace your faux leather clutches for an evening out. Coffee tables, drawer chests, jewellery boxes lined with vinyl and printed with a collage of Hollywood classics posters dominate More’s collection.

For the more traditional, there are dupion silk cushions which make clever use of coloured stones are crystals. While his collection is high on colours,he never crosses the thin line between being bright and being blingy. A case in point is a small cushion with a pistachio green base brought alive by the outline of a cat, created by green crystals.

The wall clocks, mostly in girly pastels could happily make for chic wedding shower gifts.

However, our pick would be a cool chandelier made of discarded pint beer bottles. The play of light down muddy brown and dull green bottles gives you a very young, funky version of the ornate chandeliers that we usually associate with Indian homes.
