State govt employees to get 10% DA

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee brought good news for state government employees today when she announced a 10 per cent increase in dearness allowance for them.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee brought good news for state government employees today when she announced a 10 per cent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for them.

A total of 23 per cent of DA is due for the state government employees – numbering about 10 lakh. However,the chief minister said that as soon as the state government’s financial health improves,she would give the remaining 13 per cent.”

“For this,the state government will have to spend Rs 3,000 crore annually,’’ she said.

Earlier this morning,the chief minister held a meeting with representatives of government employees’ unions in which she explained the situation the government was i”. “You all know the government is going through an acute financial crisis,which is actually a legacy of the Left Front government. Every month we are paying Rs 1,500 crore as interest. But still we are trying our best and I assure you that as soon we recover,we will pay the entire DA amount due to you,’’ Mamata said.
