‘Sridip,a strong organiser’

Sridip Bhattacharya joined the party full time after completing his engineering from Shibpur B E College. He started his political career as an activist of SFI and soon became its state committee member. He played an active role in “people’s science” movement in the state. Bhattacharya,who was never at the forefront of electoral politics,is known as a strong organiser among the party and a strong ideologue. He was made the district committee secretary in Howrah and later made the member of the state secretariat member in the party. Bhattacharya is also known as a person of simple living among the party cadres. His wife Swapna Bhattacharya,a senior leader of CPM woman’s wing,is now chairman of Howrah Muncipal Corporation.
