In West Bengal, protestors blocked the Bangaon-Sealdah railway up-line for over an hour, demanding that the recent diversion of trains from the Bangaon-Majerhat route to the Bangaon-Barasat route be reversed.

Services were disrupted, and the situation escalated when a passenger from an up-line train allegedly attempted to protest the blockade. This led to a confrontation with the protesters, who allegedly attacked the passenger.

Subsequently, railway police intervened to control the situation but were met with resistance from the protesters. The police were reportedly forced to resort to lathi charge to disperse the crowd. A sub-inspector from Ashok Nagar police station sustained injuries during the clashes.

The blockade has resulted in the suspension of local train services and the diversion of long-distance trains to the Bangaon-Majerhat route. The closure of Jessore Road has further compounded the transportation issues in the region.
