Left Front chairman Biman Bose,Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Surya Kanta Mishra,Forward Bloc state secretary Ashok Ghosh and senior RSP leader Kshiti Goswami visited Mamata at her residence to offer their condolences.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sent his condolence message for Mamata from Moscow where he is on a three-day visit. I was deeply sorry to hear of the passing away of your mother this morning. I know how close she was to you and I can feel your pain and sense of loss at this sad happening.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar,who is at present in Kolkata,conveyed condolence message to Mamata and expressed her wish to meet Mamata in the evening.

Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee,in her condolence message to the Chief Minister,said: I knew Gayatri Devi personally. I know how important your mother was to you. I have no words to console you. I and my family stand by you in this time of grief. I hope God will help you overcome your sorrow. Do let me know if you need any help. Mukherjee had visited Gayatri Devi in SSKM hospital on December 3.
