Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday claimed that the plane she was aboard on her way back to Kolkata from Varanasi on March 4 could have met with a major accident.

Addressing the budget session of the Assembly, the CM said another plane came in front of her plane. “It was the pilot’s skill that saved me though my waist was injured. I still have pain.”

On March 4, the CM returned to Kolkata after winding up her visit to Uttar Pradesh. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is currently investigating the incident even as the airport authorities blamed bad weather.

On Saturday, West Bengal Home Secretary BP Gopalika had written a letter to the DGCA questioning as why the CM’s flight underwent a “huge turbulence” just before landing at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport.

TMC’s mouthpiece Jago Bangla in an editorial expressed concern saying as how the planes carrying the West Bengal CM repeatedly faced issues.
