Kolkata:Commerce and Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee will be visiting Bangalore on Thursday to hold discussion with the top brass of IT major Infosys on breaking the deadlock over the firms Rajarhat project. The project has failed to take off as the Trinamool Congress-led government has refused to grant the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status to it. Chatterjee today said that he expects to resolve the issue.
The timing of the visit gains significance as it comes amidst reports that Infosys is planning to exchange the 50-acre plot,which it got during the Left Front government,with Hidco to relocate its IT project from Rajarhat.
Jangipur bypoll to be held on October 10
New Delhi:The Election Commission on Wednesday announced bypolls to Jangipur and Tehri Garhwal Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal and Uttarakhand on October 10. The two constituencies,represented by Congress leaders Pranab Mukherjee and Vijay Bahuguna,fell vacant after their elevation as the President and the Uttarakhand Chief Minister respectively. Announcing the schedule for bye-elections,the EC said the notification for the same would be issued on September 15 and the last date for making nominations is September 22. The EC has fixed October 13 for declaring the results.
