Dissatisfied with the works done by several departments, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday reportedly said that the officials responsible will be skinned if they don’t mend their ways.

The CM also allegedly ordered that they should be transferred.

During an administrative meeting at state secretariat Nabanna, Mamata — while referring to illegal sand mining — said she has information that several senior officials of the irrigation department are involved in the racket.

“The Chief Minister said that those officials will be skinned if they don’t mend their ways. She later told the chief secretary that these officials should be transferred,” said a senior official who was present at the administrative review meeting.

He added that Mamata was also disappointed with the work of the five all-women police stations in Kolkata. “She further said that construction of 36 super-speciality hospitals in the state was progressing at a very slow rate… and that a ‘Syndicate Raj’ was prevailing in the public health and engineering department, which should be stopped,” the official said.
