The CBI special team today arrested four more armed CPM cadres for their alleged involvement in the Netai carnage,during the agencys raids in Lalgarh police station area,early today. The agency has also detained two more CPM cadres for verification. Incidentally,the CBI arrested four armed cadres yesterday from Goaltore police station area located in West Midnapore and Bankura area.
Sources said the arrested CPM armed cadres – Roop Aahir,Niranjan Kotal,Banamali Duley and Lab Duley – are in the age group of 25-30 years. The CBI has zeroed in on 20-25 of the armed CPM cadres who fired at the villagers at Netai after which nine villagers died of bullet injuries.
Significantly,the CBI in last two days,has arrested eight armed cadres who were recruited by the CPM at the Netai camp. According to sources,the arrested cadres have confessed to taking part in the firing incident and have revealed the names of some of the district committee members of the CPM and senior district leaders who are the top operators of the camp. A police officer,pleading anonymity,said,Some of the armed cadres remained police informers. Police had knowledge about them but could not arrest them due to political compulsion. However,at present,they will speak out everything.
The four arrested cadres will be produced in the Jhargram court tomorrow,said an official. Meanwhile,the four persons arrested by the CBI on Sunday were remanded in judicial custody for three days by the ACJM court in Jhargram on Monday. The identification parade by Netai residents will be held in jail.
