Sportspersons passing through bad times due to lack of motivation are not hard to find these days. Heres a man with a great sense of humour and willing to help such people. Mrinal Chakraborty,a sports motivational advisor from Hooghly, helps sportspersons give their best on the field.
Closely associated with the world of sports for more than 25 years,Mrinal is well aware of the needs of aspiring sportspersons of today.
Mrinal has played hockey for the Indian Railways (1993-1996). He has also been an active member of the Sports Authority of India (SAI 1989-1993). Playing in numerous tournaments, leagues, championships and in multi-cultural environments has given him the opportunity of gathering invaluable experience about Sports Sciences.
Owing to a serious injury during one his league matches,Mrinal was unable to continue his sports career further. Thereafter,he focused his energy to help budding athletes realise their visions and achieve their goals. During this period he also earned his Masters Degree in Human Resource Management from AR University,Cambridge,UK,to further enhance his skills and knowledge. His research thesis on Performance Management (How motivation enhances performance in the field of Sports, child education and corporate world) won the TRIMO International Award. He was the first Indian to be conferred this honour.
He has successfully put into practice his knowledge of performance management in numerous cases. He has conducted motivational training courses for a large number of organizations internationally. This has helped achieve optimised and peak performance for both organisations as well as individuals, spread over corporate and sports worlds.
Mrinal,as an accomplished motivational advisor, believes that a blend of physical, mental and emotional fitness is necessary for any successful athlete. Though a lot of attention is paid towards physical fitness for athletes in India, very little is done towards their mental and emotional health. Improving the emotional health of athletes and proper motivation has significant impact on the performance of a sportsperson as it increases the level of commitment towards the game. His approach has been proven successfully, especially the conjunction with his warm, positive and proactive style of mentoring.
Mrinal practices a blend of the outside in and inside out learning styles to help athletes overcome mental barriers. He finds seven recurring challenges that are witnessed by most struggling athletes self confidence, mental toughness, injury management, performance anxiety, flagging energy level, lateral tensions and loneliness. All of these hurdles arise from the pre-conscious mind and consequently undermine performance. Mrinal helps people through confidence building, reducing performance anxiety, emotional energy management and motivating people for teamwork.
A philanthropist at heart,he is always keen to help people benefit from his experiences. Now Mrinals vision and mission statement is to strengthen Indian sportsmen mentally and emotionally so that they can better present themselves at the Olympics and world sports.
