Just hours after the UPA-II announced more reforms,Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today called for a no-confidence motion against the Manmohan Singh-led government at the Centre. She said she would approach the President “with an appeal to oust” the “minority government”.

Posting her comments on her Facebook page, the West Bengal Chief Minister said: “Today, yet another set of anti-people decisions of the central government have crossed the Laxman rekha. These important decisions… taken by a minority government are immoral and unethical.”

She added: “Is it the intention of the UPA government to sell out the country? We should unitedly oppose all such moves and not allow the government to be bailed out after a series of such anti-people decisions… Let us move no-confidence motion.”

Appealing to “those supporting UPA to come out and oppose these moves in the greater interest of the people”,she said,“sarkar jaana jaroori hai, desh ko bachane ke liye (the government has to go in order to save the country”. Repeating her earlier allegation, she said: “In the name of reforms, loot cholche loot. To suppress it jhoot cholche jhoot.”
