Madhyamik examinee Dipankar Mistry was stabbed last night for not paying up the local union members for their booze.

Mistry was called by a group of Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (INTTUC) around 9 pm. They demanded him to give them some money,following which a fight took place and one of them tried to stab Mistry with a dagger. Mistry got severe injuries on his right arm while trying to defend himself. Local residents took him to Habra Hospital first and then to Barasat Hospital later where a CT scan was conducted.

“A case has been filed two persons have been arrested,” said an official of Habra PS.

Cheating Reported

Police received several complaints of mass cheating on the second day of Madhyamik exam from various centres. The WBBSE,however,denied receiving such complaints.


Arrest warrant against Lakshman Seth

A Haldia court today issued warrant of arrest against Lakshman Seth,former CPM MP from Tamluk,and several other district CPM leaders who were charge-sheeted by the CID in connection with the violence at Nandigram in November,2007. The court of the additional chief judicial magistrate issued the warrant against 71 charge-sheeted persons who did not appear in the court today. The court directed police to execute the warrant within March 29. Six persons went missing from a rally in Nandigram on November 10,2007,during the violence there. The Calcutta High Court directed the CID to trace those people,hearing the habeas corpus petition on September 29,2011.The CID probe revealed that those six persons had been killed by hired goons of the CPM after abduction. On January 30,the CID filed a charge-sheet against 88 persons,including Seth. Today Seth and the other accused were scheduled to appear in court in compliance with the earlier order.
