What makes a Valentine’s Day date romantic? Is it sight of pesticide-infested,unblemished roses resting lovingly in your date’s arm? Or is it afterglow of the few stolen moments of passion caught under stacks of empty chocolate boxes? No modern social construct is as loaded with baggage as the concept of Valentine’s Day. Roses, candles, chocolates… We know these are clichés,yet we fall for them year after year, ignoring our better senses, indulging the soppy, the sentimental and most importantly, the capitalist in us. So why should this year be any different? And if you have decided to go against your better sense s,why on earth shouldn’t you go for the whole hog?

Here is our little guide to a cliché-driven Valentine’s Day

Spa Surprise
Celebrate the season of love and togetherness at the Aura spa in The Park which is offering a range of fantastic spa packages for couples on Valentines Day. The couple package offers you a Chocolate-strawberry massage while the rose package is a luxurious treat for your date.

On the Cards
Afraa, the lifestyle lounge and restaurant at Salt Lake will celebrate Valentine’s Day with an interaction with a renowned tarot card reader and numerologist And of course there will be a “eat as much as you want” Sunday brunch which is priced at Rs.750 (includes unlimited food, drinks).

Concert Fun

Sweet Indulgences
The Bridge at The Park has organized a special dessert buffet; which means chocolates, soufflés,mousse, and more chocolates. At Rs 2000 per person it may be seem to be a bit of an indulgence, but it’s a little price to pay for one happy date in your arms.

Julia Smiles
It’s the unspoken rule of modern day courting. You need to satiate your girlfriends chick-flick needs at least once in a year. And what better day than Valentine’s Day to do that? So think no more, book tickets of the latest Hollywood mushathon strarring the ever dependable Julia Roberts along with the likes of Bradley Cooper,Jessica Biel,Jamie Fox,Ashton Kucher,Jennifer Garner and the list goes on. It is a saccharine sweet comedy from the director of the baap of all chick-flicks,Pretty Woman. Expect to see a lot of I-am-just-a-girl-asking-a-boy-to-love-her (Notting Hill) sort of scenes. Also be prepared to see the overgrown 5-year-old monstrosity called Ashton Kucher murder his lines with remarkable dexterity. What’s it called? You guessed it. Valentine’s Day.
