Public Service Commission chairman Sabyasachi Sen can face trouble as the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) has raised questions over his appointment after a case was filed by Additional Chief Secretary in charge of Paschimanchal Unnayan Affairs A B Chakrabarty. In its interim order, the court asked whether Sen took VRS before he was shifted to PSC from the department of commerce and industries. And If Sen had not taken VRS,it would pose a problem for him, according to government sources. Also, grapevine has it that Chakrabarty who filed the case seeking justice as he was allegedly wronged insofar as promotion and increment was concerned has vowed not to stop till he saw to it that Chief Secretary Samar Ghosh and Home Secretary G D Gautama, both of whom were of his batch, were demoted.
Communication error
There are some ministers in the Mamata Banerjee cabinet who are too simple and honest to tackle some of the bureaucrats. The other day,a top bureaucrat at Writers Buildings came to Minister for Paschimanchal Affairs Sukumar Hansda and showed him a file in which the CM apparently wrote that the minister should see. Grapevine has it that the secretary told the minister that he should see the chief minister. Accordingly, the minister rushed to the CM only to be told that she had not called him at all. A red-faced Hansda returned and began to look for the secretary.
Missing pictures
All pictures of freedom fighters, poets and other great sons and daughters of Bengal have vanished from the footpaths around Writers Buildings. CPM leader Gautam Deb feels all pictures have been taken away by officials of Writers . According to Deb,with CM Mamata Banerjee on an overdrive to observe birth and death anniversaries of almost all important personalities and garlanding their pictures in the state secretariat, the officials did not want to take a chance and collected all pictures they could lay their hands on.
