KLO militant held in Malda

A member of banned militant outfit Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) was arrested in Malda on Thursday night following a failed abduction bid. The police arrested Gopal Burman (24),a resident of Habbibpur from Gajol after he along with his accomplices met with a road accident while ferrying one Nanvin Agarwal to Assam after abducting him. Malda SP Bhuban Mandal said Gopal and four other KLO members hatched a conspiracy to abduct Agarwal,son of local businessman. The vehicle in which they were travelling to Assam overturned at a roadside ditch at Gajol. As locals gathered there,the miscreants brandished firearms. Even as four of his team members escaped,Gopal was caught by locals and handed over to police,said Mandal. Gopal was remanded in 14-day police custody.
