A roving giant ashtray had students of Delhi University out on the streets on a bright Thursday morning. Addressing them was VJ-actor Rannvijay, who stood on a podium erected on a truck and urged students to kick the butt. The 28-year-old was part of the campaign launched by non-profit organisation,Billion Hearts Beating Foundation,to celebrate the World Heart Day. The official Chief BHB Crusader for No Smoking,Rannvijay said,Being an ex-student of Delhi University,I completely relate to and understand the mindset of the students. I tried to encourage them to stay away from this vice by setting my own example of being a non-smoker. In order to reduce the number of smokers,it is important to keep a check on youngsters who are taking up smoking,
especially due to peer pressure or to simply fit in and appear cool.
Earlier this week, the VJ and the ashtray were seen in South Campus,at colleges such as Venkateswara College,Moti Lal Nehru College and Delhi College of Arts and Commerce. By the end of his tour,Rannvijay had 1,100 pledges from students promising to refrain from smoking.
