Jhargram: Doctor,scholar detained

A doctor and a research scholar were detained by police in Jhargram on Sunday while they were on their way to open a closed health centre at Chakadoba in Belpehari. The health centre has remained closed since April 2009 but PCAPA,a frontal organisation of Maoists,reportedly wanted to open it. After coming to know about the detention of Dr Siddhartha Gupta and Abhihjnan Sarkar,a research scholar at Jadavpur University,a group of people from Kolkata reached the spot and called for their immediate release. Some villagers also joined in the demonstration. Police refused to give information on the reason behind detaining the duo.
